Department of Strategy and Policy
A short report from Zhang Xinyuan.
Zhang Xinyuan
I attended the Academy of Management (AOM) 85th Annual Conference 2025 held in Copenhagen and presented a paper “Carrots and Sticks as Dual Insurance? Government Rewards and Threats for Corporate Green Innovation”, which is co-authored with Prof Arzi Adbi and Dr Wu Xiaoteng.
During the AOM, I attended two doctoral student consortia. The first, organized by the International Management Division, lasted six hours and comprised four topic-sharing sessions led by leading scholars, followed by a roundtable discussion. The second consortium, hosted by the Strategic Management Division, was more extensive, spanning ten hours with two thematic presentations and four rounds of roundtable discussions. The depth of these conversations helped me refine my theoretical framing and explore methodological alternatives.
Beyond the consortia, I participated in a Professional Development Workshop on the interaction between innovation and nonmarket strategy.
On the final day, I presented my own paper, receiving constructive and suggestive feedback from the session audience. Additionally, meeting my co-authors in person facilitated productive discussions on project progress and next steps. Informal coffee chats with professors from the United States and China added further value, offering fresh perspectives on research design and potential future collaborations.
Overall, attending AOM 2025 was a highly rewarding experience that combined academic learning, research development, and professional networking. Looking forward to attending AOM next year!
