A short report from Cao Jinze on her paper in the SMUE conference.

Cao Jinze in the SMUE Conference 2025

I attended the 3rd Summer Meeting in Urban Economics, held at Peking University HSBC Business School in Shenzhen from June 21-23, 2025. The conference focused on cutting-edge research in urban economics and attracted leading scholars from around the world. It provided an excellent platform for academic exchange and exposure to the latest developments in the field.

I presented my paper titled Building Climate-Resilient Mobility: Infrastructure Adaptation and Travel Behavior Responses to Flood Disruptions.

The study examines how infrastructure-based policies can mitigate flood-induced disruptions to inter-city mobility by combining evidence on both travel behavior and system-level operational impacts.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to connect with leading scholars, including Nathaniel Baum-Snow (University of Toronto) and Joseph Gyourko (University of Pennsylvania). I also had meaningful exchanges with other top researchers, which will benefit my academic development.
