Insight Sharing at Sustainability Asia 2025

The NUS Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at NUS Business School is glad to contribute our insights at the Sustainability Asia 2025 event organised by Reuters Events. Held at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, the event gathers over 200 industry leaders to discuss integrating sustainability as a core business strategy.
In a panel on the evolving sustainability reporting landscape, Prof Lawrence Loh, CGS Director, joined panellists Dr Allinnettes Adigue from Global Reporting Initiative (GRI); Ms Fang Eu-Lin and Ms Indrie M Tjahjadi, both from PwC Singapore, in discussing the various sustainability reporting standards. Moderated by Ms Junice Yeo from Eco-Business, the session was enlightening in how the standards were developed and how their respective focuses influence companies.

Another panel on how the reporting process informs future strategy gathered the insights from Prof Lawrence Loh, Ms Junice Yeo, Ms Esther An from City Developments Limited and Mr Sorouch Kheradmand from Schneider Electric. Prof Loh pointed out that some companies view sustainability reporting as an “end”, where more time is spent on reporting than on actual sustainable actions.

Actually, two CGS studies have shown that sustainability reporting is positively linked to firm value and brand value. Sustainability as a business imperative and sustainability reporting as a tool to inform future company strategy were echoed by the panellists.
