Verity graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences and completed a Bachelor of Psychology Degree (Honours) at James Cook University in 2012.
Verity joined the NUS Business School in 2013, and held the position of an assistant manager, supporting the Executive Director in the Dean’s Office. She moved to the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (formerly known as the Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations) in 2015 and took on the Centre Manager’s role, managing the daily running of a research centre. This includes research, project and event management and marketing and publicity of activities for the centre. She also manages administrative tasks such as HR and finance. Verity has also written two research reports and numerous research proposals, performed copy editing and translations tasks on top of running the centre.
Under CGS’s Director’s leadership and mentorship, Verity was promoted twice in her career at CGS, and is now the Business Development Lead for the research centre.
Verity started her career as a journalist with the People’s Association before taking to the skies as a cabin crew with British Airways (BA). She was promoted to cabin crew supervisor a year after joining the company. While at BA, she held the position of Chairman of BA Cabin Crew Union from 2011 to 2013. She worked closely with the management and union to return the crew’s contractual agreement to fairer and more equitable treatment for the cabin crew union members.
Verity enjoys the challenges her current role entails and looks forward to more research collaborations and opportunities for the Centre’s growth and impact. Verity was Chairman of the NUS Business School Social Committee from 2014 to 2016. She enjoys interacting and socialising with people from all walks of life, organising events and embarking on new work experiences to broaden her horizons.
