NUS CGS and BIZAlum Partner to Launch G.L.O.W.

The Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) and NUS BIZAlum are proud to present G.L.O.W., an initiative which gathers NUS Business School alumni and the broader academia and industry to foster sustainable living.
G.L.O.W. stands for Green Living for Optimal Well-being. At its launch on 3 March 2026, we held a dialogue “From Plate to Purpose”, which centred on sustainable food.
The speakers, all NUS Business School alumni, were:
– Prof Lawrence Loh, Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS), NUS BBA (Hons) ‘85)
– Mr Kenny Eng (Founder & Chief Farmer, The Local Farm, NUS BSc (Hons) RE ‘99)
– Ms Florence Leong (Co-Founder / Director, KosmodeHealth Singapore, NUS BBA ‘86)
– Ms Hattie Ren (Moderator and Sustainability Advocate, NUS MBA ’24)

Mr Eng reminded the audience to “ground down before we scale up” — honouring local farmers, valuing food security, and seeing farming as a meaningful career once more.
Ms Leong shared her vision of “giving crops a second life” by transforming by-products into functional ingredients.
Prof Loh reminded us that food is not only sustenance, but heritage — an emotive connection that ties community, craft, and care.
At the end of the dialogue, CGS and NUS BIZAlum marked the launch of G.L.O.W. by imprinting fingerprints on a board, signalling a green commitment.

The evening also saw participants networking over refreshments with locally sourced ingredients, including noodle dishes from Kosmode Health and goat milk gelato and beer by The Local Farm.

Change happens when businesses, consumers, and policymakers work together. Moving forward, G.L.O.W. aims to enable more opportunities that promote sustainable living.
