SURENDRA, Rajiv

  • Professor
  • Marketing
  • (Years of service 2002 - 2013)

Professor Rajiv Surendra was Assistant Dean of Research at NUS Business School from 2005 to 2008. He was sharp, brilliant and witty, with an excellent research record, having published in many reputable publications including Marketing Science.

With his imposing stocky build, Rajiv was a coffee lover. Coupled with his affable personality, he would often look for colleagues to hang around with over a cuppa. When he saw a colleague working on research, he would invariably quip “you can push the frontiers of research after a coffee break!” flashing his trademark grin.

Given his research proclivities, Rajiv cut an unlikely figure as a Bollywood afficionado and all things Indian politics. His knowledge of Bollywood was astounding. He would have won the gameshow Trivial Pursuit if there were a category on Bollywood.

It came as no surprise when Rajiv decided to leave behind the academic world that he had excelled in to pursue his Bollywood dream as a producer. He passed on doing what he truly loved – making Bollywood movies.
