Professor Lim Chin served NUS Business School for 30 years in a variety of roles, including Acting Dean, Vice Dean and Head of the Department of Strategy & Policy.  He played important roles in guiding the School through substantial changes at a time when NUS was undergoing major transformation.

An economist by training, Chin’s research was published in the top economics journals, and was heavily cited. This earned him a listing in the “Who`s Who in Economics: A Biographic Dictionary of Major Economists.” Chin also contributed broadly, serving in several government and industry committees and boards. Most notably, he was a member of the National Economic Planning Committee in 1989, which developed Singapore’s economic development plan. He was in much demand for his expertise, advising and teaching international organisations and firms on a variety of issues.

Chin was a sporting enthusiast and was a particularly keen tennis player. Football and rugby were particular passions.  Chin was known for his dry wit and for his enthusiasm for intellectual debate with colleagues.
