Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks in each of the social sciences. The Networks encourage readers to communicate directly with authors and other subscribers concerning their own and others' research.
NUS had subscribed to five networks, namely - the Accounting Research Network, Economic Research Network, Financial Economics Network, Legal Scholarship Network, and Management Research Network.
The SSRN Electronic Library consists of two parts: an Abstract Database containing abstracts on over 24,800 scholarly working papers and forthcoming papers and an Electronic Paper Collection currently containing over 11,000 downloadable full text documents.
For details on the various networks, please refer to: http://www.ssrn.com
How Does One Access the Data?
Please note that now the Financial databases no longer subscribes to the SSRN Journals but the Central Library does so. You may access the journals from the public folder. Simply follow the instructions below:
- In the Microsoft Exchange window, on the left column, look for "Public Folders" at the bottom of the list.
- Expand "Public Folders" (click on + sign) and then further expand "All Public Folders", "Staff", "journals"
- Under "Journals", you should see "SSRN Journals". Expand, and you should see 6 sub-folders under "SSRN journals". Each sub-folder is named after the relevant SSRN network, and contains the working paper abstracts, accepted working paper abstracts and announcements (jobs, conferences, etc) sent out by the network. The "SSRN general" sub-folder contains announcements not otherwise classifiable into the other sub-folders.
* Please note that the contents of SSRN journals will automatically be deleted 4 weeks after the date of receipt so as not to clog up disk space.
