CRSP, together with Standard & Poors, offers the side-by-side access to CRSP's stock data and Compustat's fundamental data. CRSP data contains security level historical descriptive information and market data on more than 20,000 stocks (inactive and active companies) from the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ markets. Compustat data contains more than 335 annual and 135 quarterly income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and supplemental data items, as well as 300 financial ratios on active and inactive companies.

CRSP reformats the Compustat data files into a single database integrating GVKEY with the Compustat and CRSP Link data. CRSP Link maps CRSP's permanent, unique identifiers, PERMNO^® (permanent issue identification number) and PERMCO^® (permanent company identification number), with Compustat's permanent, unique company identifier, GVKEY
