The NUS Department of Marketing PhD programme is a challenging, but incredibly exciting and rewarding experience. During my time as a PhD student, I had the opportunities to receive training and dedicated guidance from our outstanding faculty in a rigorous research environment, as well as connect with international scholars through frequent seminars and conferences. Furthermore, there were amazing research opportunities – with my advisor, Professor Leonard Lee, I had the opportunity to work with a team of physicians on a healthcare project. Choosing to start a PhD journey at the Marketing department, NUS Business School is the most correct decision I have ever made. During the six years of my PhD study, my supervisor, Associate Professor Yan Zhang, consistently allowed my research to be my own work, but steered me in the right direction whenever she thought I needed it. The Marketing department gave me an office just next to Yan’s. And Prof Yan is always open. I can always run to her for advice whenever I have a question about my research. Not many doctoral students have an opportunity to work so closely with their advisor and writing a paper together. Besides my supervisor, all the other professors are also super supportive. I am hugely appreciative of all of them. For me, they are not only my mentors, but also caring, big sisters/brothers. My PhD study was an amazing journey because of all these lovely people!
