Singapore, 11 January 2025 — The 15th edition of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School’s annual flagship event, Bizad Charity Run, has successfully raised close to $300,000 to kick-off the school’s 60th-anniversary celebration this year. Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development, Mr Eric Chua, flagged off this year’s run, which saw over 800 participants taking part in a 5km or 10km course through the NUS Kent Ridge campus.

Jointly organised by the NUS Business School Alumni Association and NUS Bizad Club, the charity run united students, faculty, and alumni in supporting financially disadvantaged business students while promoting a spirit of giving in the wider community. The proceeds from the run will go towards the NUS Business School Alumni (NUSBSA) Bursary, Student Experience Funds, and beneficiaries of Youth Guidance Outreach Services.

Andrew Lee, a Bachelor of Business Administration alumnus from the Class of 2021 and a recipient of the NUSBSA bursary, said, “Coming from a lower-income family, the NUSBSA Bursary made my university journey richer by allowing me to participate in a student exchange programme in the USA. This allowed me to interact with students from around the world, broadening my perspective and understanding of global affairs. The help I received has reminded me that no contribution is too small, and I hope to give it forward to the next generation.”

Celebrating a significant milestone

Over the past 15 years, the NUS Bizad Charity Run has raised a commendable sum exceeding $3 million, supporting more than 600 students through the NUSBSA Bursary. In recent years the charity run has expanded its social impact to benefit various Singapore charities.

This year’s Bizad Charity Run is also the first of a series of events to commemorate the NUS Business School’s diamond jubilee. What started out as the Department of Business Administration with a mere four staff and 24 students, is now Asia’s leading Business School with over 280 distinguished faculty members, more than 3,000 students, and over 47,000 alumni from around the world.

“NUS Business School has created a legacy that spans six decades of nurturing business leaders and contributing to Singapore’s development. Today, we remain committed to grow in step with the nation, providing excellent learning and growth opportunities, and shaping a sustainable future for everyone,” said Distinguished Professor Andrew Rose, Dean of NUS Business School.

The fundraising drive is ongoing till 31 May 2025 and members of the public can continue to make donations at https://bit.ly/BCR2025.
