Asian Business Series – The Price of Being Fair: The FairPrice Group Story
In "Seminars and talks"

How is NTUC FairPrice competing with e-commerce rivals RedMart and Amazon on the digital front? Is Sheng Siong really cheaper than FairPrice? What is the secret behind the success of Singapore’s F&B giant and supermarket chain?

Find out from Vipul Chawla, Group Chief Executive Officer of FairPrice Group (FPG), if retail really is the most exciting industry to be in at the moment. Get a global CEO’s perspective on whether digital transformation is really necessary. He will also share about a new book, The Price of Being Fair, which offers a peek into the tension of balancing profit with purpose.

For our students who wish to get a headstart into a career with the home-grown retail front-runner, come hear too regarding the career opportunities within the FairPrice Group.

The book’s editor, Sue-Ann Chia from The Nutgraf, will reveal how she told the story not just of FPG’s successes over half a century but also failures – from loss-making overseas ventures to aborted retail concepts. It is a marketing lesson on brand vulnerability – something most Singapore Inc. companies shy away from.

The Price of Being Fair: The FairPrice Group Story will be available for purchase at the event and a book signing session by Mr Vipul Chawla and Ms Sue-Ann Chia will follow after the talk.

A/Prof Ang Swee Hoon, Marketing, NUS Business School, will moderate this event.
