Singapore, 25 January 2024 — The Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tee Up Capital Private Limited (Tee Up Capital) to jointly develop a talent pipeline to meet the increasing demand for Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) expertise as well as address climate-related challenges facing Singapore.

Tee Up has managed dormitories in Singapore since 2006 and operated dedicated-purpose facilities such as quarantine facilities, onboarding centres, COVID-19 treatment facilities and transitional care facilities since 2020.

Known as “Tee Up Capital-NUS CGS Programme in Governance and Sustainability”, the collaboration will train a select group of NUS undergraduates. These students will be given opportunities to engage in governance and sustainability-related research, workshops, conferences, and project work.

Tee Up Capital will pledge $100,000 to support the implementation of the six-month joint programme. It will also expose students to its day-to-day dormitory operations and management, enabling them to develop case studies and recommendations to improve Tee Up’s ESG practices. CGS will have a crucial role in designing and executing the training curriculum.

“This collaboration provides a unique opportunity for us to train the next generation of leaders who can potentially make an impact on ESG worldwide. We look forward to a fruitful outcome from this partnership as it aligns with our commitment to fostering responsible business practices and social betterment,” said, Professor Lawrence Loh, Director of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at NUS Business School.

Mr Kelvin Low Eng Chiew, CEO and Director of Tee Up Capital, said “As a dormitory operator, we have the responsibility to improve the living conditions of our migrant workers. Hence, this partnership with CGS will provide an avenue for us to enhance our business practices and governance, fostering a more inclusive and equitable community. By collaborating with NUS sustainability experts and students, we believe that we can leverage the recommendations provided in the case study to boost our performance in ESG and strengthen our position as a socially responsible organisation”.
