Thomas Rauter

Professor, University of Zurich

Thomas Rauter’s research focuses on corporate transparency and regulation, with an emphasis on emerging and international markets as well as ESG. His work has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, and AEA Papers and Proceedings. Rauter is a Full Professor of Accounting at the University of Zurich. Before joining Zurich, he was an Associate and Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds a PhD from WU Vienna, an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, and a BSc in Business Economics from the University of Mannheim. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked in the asset and insurance solutions groups at Morgan Stanley and in the investment banking division at Citi.
