Abstract
Organizations generate extensive event data, but these records rarely show how work actually unfolds. Process mining connects data with operational processes, enabling organizations to discover process flows, identify deviations and bottlenecks, and monitor performance. This talk introduces the core concepts of process mining and discusses recent advances in object-centric process mining, predictive process monitoring, and process simulation. Applications in manufacturing illustrate its practical value, including bottleneck analysis and process load prediction in POSCO’s steel production, as well as fabrication process analysis with Samsung Electronics. The talk concludes by considering how process mining, together with AI and simulation, can support better decisions in complex engineering systems.
