Anya Nakhmurina
Associate Professor of Accounting, Yale University
Anya Nakhmurina is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Yale School of Management. She also holds a secondary appointment as an Associate Professor of the Environment at the Yale School of the Environment. Nakhmurina studies the information environment of U.S. municipalities, with a focus on financial reporting transparency. She explores two interconnected topics: stewardship and the information roles of municipal disclosures. She is particularly interested in exploring cities’ disclosures to understand their decisions concerning climate change adaptation and mitigation. Nakhmurina is an Affiliate Fellow of the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and was a Junior Fellow of the Stigler Center during 2018-2021. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago, an MA in Economics from the New Economic School, and an MS in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
