Shelley Xin Li

Assistant Professor of Accounting, University of Southern California – Marshall School of Business

Shelley Xin Li uses a mix of research methods (field experiments, archival studies, and surveys) to examine two high-level research questions: (1) how are management control mechanisms used to achieve hard-to-measure outcomes (e.g. innovation and long-term performance)? (2) How does technology-enabled information sharing (i.e. information-based control mechanisms) drive organizational performance? In answering these questions, she has published in top journals including the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Shelley received her Doctoral degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Management) from the Harvard Business School. She has won the AAA/MAS Doctoral Dissertation Award. Shelley currently serves as the Chair of the Liaison to Practice Committee for American Accounting Association’s(AAA) Management Accounting Section (MAS).

Before joining Purdue in 2012, Professor Nan taught at Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. She holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering from Tianjin University, a Master degree in Economics from West Virginia University, and a PhD degree in Accounting from the University of Florida.
