The ASEAN CSR Network (ACN) and Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) jointly launched two research reports on the state of sustainability reporting amongst Mainboard Listed companies and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in Singapore at the Roundtable on Sustainability Reporting: Capability Development and Capacity Building. The event, organised by ACN and CGIO, attracted over 260 participants from the corporate, practitioners, educational and student’s community as well as news coverage from The Business Times online and print version, 21 Oct 2016 (Singapore companies disappoint in sustainability); The Straits Times online; Asia One; Singapore Business Review and Yahoo! Finance .

The programme for the Roundtable included an Overview of Sustainability Reporting Practices in Singapore  presentation by Prof Lawrence Loh, Director, CGIO, on the key findings of the two reports, a panel discussion and an invitation to Sustainability Consortium of Professionals and Educators (SCOPE). SCOPE is established by ACN and CGIO in July 2016.

The creation of SCOPE marks an important milestone in both organisations’ efforts in establishing an ecosystem in Corporate Sustainability with the aim to energise ASEAN efforts in sustainability. Registration to join SCOPE is open to professionals, practitioners, educators and students through this link.

The Roundtable also included a panel discussion on the state and challenges of sustainability reporting in Singapore. 5 panellists from CapitaLand Limited, CSRWorks International, Singapore Exchange, Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), and Singtel comprising the corporate, consultancy and regulatory sectors engaged in robust discussion with Mr Thomas Thomas, CEO of ACN as the moderator.
