The recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Singapore, albeit his second one within 2015, underscores the growing importance of the mutually symbiotic relationship between the two nations.

The foundations of the Singapore-India strategic partnership was already laid in 2005 with the signing of the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). With Modi's government pushing for infrastructural development and creating urban solutions for its new smart cities, Make in India, etc will provide opportunities for Singapore to make use of its expertise in these areas.

India, has made significant progress in digital businesses, innovation and IP creation too. Where are the areas for Singapore and India to mutually leverage their native advantages? Technologies across Energy, Renewables, Life Sciences, Agri biology, IT, and other areas represent significant opportunities.

What are the areas where people to people contact can lead to leveraging talent – both breadth and depth that India has to offer. As the Indian sub-continent liberalizes further, how can bilateral links be reinforced and updated for all the above opportunities to be tapped?

Mr KV Rao, Resident Director – ASEAN, for Tata Sons Limited, will expound on the steps needed by companies, institutions of learning and individuals to excel at this tango between Singapore and India. He will also share Tata's experiences in growing into the region's powerhouse in spite of India's complicated and ever-evolving business landscape.

Moderating the Q&A session is Prof Teo Chung Piaw, Head, Department of Decision Sciences at NUS Business School.

Mr K V Rao, is currently the Resident Director – ASEAN, for Tata Sons Limited, promoter of the holding Company of the Tata Group.
