CGS welcomed delegates from Tianjin in March 2025. Interest in sustainability is much alive in Singapore and China. Sustainability was the topic of the day when the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) at NUS Business School hosted a delegation from Tianjin, China, and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof Lawrence Loh, Director, CGS, together with senior managers Ms Ang Hui Min and Ms Verity Thoi, and Ms Wang Lin, Senior Associate Director, Strategic Partnership Office, NUS Office of the President, welcomed the delegation on 21 March 2025. It comprised:

-Ms Wang Junyan, Director, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission

-Ms Zhou Mi, Director, Vocational and Adult and Private Education Office (International Education Office) (Higher Education Office), Binhai New Area Education and Sports Bureau

Ms Ang gave a presentation on how CGS promoted corporate sustainability through research, education and training. Besides producing research insights and conducting masterclasses, CGS is also a knowledge partner in awards and competitions that assess sustainability and governance standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Liu posed in-depth questions regarding the application of sustainability research insights to the higher education sector. Prof Loh noted that sustainability reporting among universities is a young field compared to that among listed companies. Still, more could be explored in this field. There is also room for more sustainability research collaboration and knowledge exchange between Singapore and Chinese universities.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Tan Jun Han, Deputy CEO, Economic Promotion & Strategy, SSTEC, opined how insights into sustainability standards and indicators could also be useful to enterprises in SSTEC.       <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, sustainability is a field that spreads far and wide with benefits for many sectors. CGS looks forward to more dialogue and future collaborations. We would like to thank Prof Patrick Loh, CGS senior fellow and advisory board member, and Mr William Ang, co-founder and co-chairman, DG (Tianjin) Education Technology, for fostering the connection to SSTEC. In sustainability, it\u2019s collaborations that will scale up impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
