The CGIO Academic Conference on 28 - 29 August 2014 was organised based on the theme Business Groups. The conference provided scholars with feedback on their current research projects in business groups. The purpose of the Conference was also to improve the quality of research and bring synergies with scholars working in a closely related field of research.
A key feature of the conference was the internationally-renowned Professor James R. Lincoln from NUS Business School and Haas School of Business who gave a thought-provoking keynote speech, and this was followed by eight top-notch quality papers presented by scholars from all over the world – China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the United States. CGIO also assembled an excellent group of scholars from NUS Business School, Nanyang Business School, Lee Kong Chian School of Business and INSEAD with similar research interests as discussants to provide feedback for each paper.
The conference was a huge success. The academic community were engaged in open dialogues whether formally during the sessions or informally during breaks. It was an eventful platform dedicated to foster and to stimulate a network of academics committed to excellent scholarship in the realm of business group research.
