Rules And Regulations

All full-time and part-time students currently enrolled in a MBA program (including Executive MBAs) are eligible to participate in the competition. You are permitted to participate even if you graduate or finish your program during the course of the competition.


Each team must comprise of three members. Team members should all be MBA students and can come together from different Programs of a MBA degree, however all team members must belong to the same university. Please note that students are not to represent their 'exchange' schools, they have to represent the school/ university which they 'primarily' belong to.

There is no limit on the number of entries per university. A participant cannot be a member of more than one team.

Registration Deadline

The deadline for team registration is 20th September 2015, 23:59 SGT.

Round 1 Submission Deadlines

The deadline for submission for Round 1 executive summary and video presentation is 27th September 2015, 23:59 SGT.

Case Selection

During registration, teams will indicate their preferences for the two cases. For a brief overview of the cases, click here. Teams will be notified about their allocated cases via the email provided during registration.

Case allocation will be done in a manner that ensures proportionate representation of our case sponsors, although the organizing team will try its best to meet the preferences of the participants. NUS reserves the final rights for allocation of cases.

File Submissions

Teams must submit the executive summary and the video presentation.

Executive summary

The executive summary should not exceed 1000 words (extra 1 appendix page + 1 cover page, font size 12, single spaced). Submissions that exceed this limit will not be judged. All submissions should be made in a PDF format.

The executive summary must be uploaded through the Cerebration website. We encourage teams to only submit their final case solutions. Submissions sent by email will not be accepted.

Each executive summary should have a cover page that includes:

  1. Name of the school/university
  2. Names of all team members
  3. Email addresses and telephone numbers of all team members
  4. Assigned case title

Details from points 1-3 should NOT appear in any other part of the submission.

Video submission

Teams are also required to submit a 3 minute video presentation of your case solution. At least one member of your team must present; however, the format of the video presentation is left at your discretion. Your team name and university should be included in the title of your file.

Video uploading instructions:
Teams are to create their videos and upload the same to YouTube. You will need to setup a YouTube account first (this can be a team member’s personal YouTube account or a new team account). Teams must change the privacy settings of their videos on YouTube to ‘un-listed’ (and not private). Please note that teams also need to submit a PDF file with any slides used in the video.

Team Information Details

Along with Round 1 submissions we would like to get to know your team a little better. Hence, we request you to upload a team picture and tell us a little about your team’s interests, experiences, strengths etc. when submitting your video.

File Naming Convention

We request all teams to strictly follow the naming convention as below:

  1. For the PDF file: <Team Name>_<School Name>_<Case Name>
  2. Team Picture: <Team Name>_<School Name>


In case of a re-submission by any team, the judging will be based on the last submitted version by a team at the time the submissions are forwarded to the judging team. All re-submissions should be supported by an email providing reasons to consider the new submission. The Judges and Organizing Committee reserve the final rights for considering re-submissions and their decision in the matter will be final and binding.

Round 1 - Executive Summary and Video Presentation

Teams must submit the executive summary and the video presentation by 27th September 2015, 23:59 SGT. The results of Round 1 will be announced on 12th October 2015.

The top eight teams will receive written feedback from the judges. This feedback should be incorporated into the business plans.

Semi-Final & Final Rounds

Cerebration will fly down eight semi-finalist teams to Singapore to compete in the Semi-Final and Final Rounds. These two rounds (Semi-Final and Final) will be held across three consecutive days. The judging panels in both these rounds will be different.

In the Semi-Final, teams will present their case solution in front of a judging panel on 11 November 2015. Each team will be given 25 minutes to complete their presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A. Teams competing in the Semi-Final will be required to submit a copy of their presentation on a CD/pen drive one hour before the start of the event. No changes to the presentation will be allowed after the CD/pen drive has been submitted.

Teams will be provided with all necessary stationary and infrastructure such as desktops. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops.

The final four teams will be announced by the evening of 11 November 2015. These teams will advance to the Finals Round. The final teams may be given a challenge in the form of a "twister" to incorporate into their strategies.


The final four teams will face off against each other in the Grand Finale. Each team will be given no more than thirty minutes to complete their presentation and twenty minutes for Q&A.

Teams that qualify for the Final Round are required to submit a copy of their revised presentation on a CD/pen drive one hour before the start of the Final Round. No changes to the presentation slides will be allowed after CDs/pen drives have been submitted.

The final results will be announced on 13th November 2015.
