Rimmy E. Tomy\u2019s research primarily relates to regulation and enforcement in the financial sector. Because of the systemic importance of financial institutions to the broader economy, this sector is highly regulated, making enforcement issues of first-order importance. Professor Tomy studies how regulators’\u00a0disclosure of enforcement actions and banks’ compliance and internal audit systems can influence the enforcement of financial regulation.\u00a0She\u00a0also studies financial sector enforcement and credit access in developing countries where formal market institutions such as courts, auditing, and financial-reporting systems function poorly.<\/p>\n

Her\u00a0work has been published in top journals such as the\u00a0Journal of Accounting and Economics<\/em>,\u00a0The<\/em>\u00a0Review of Financial Studies<\/em>, and the\u00a0Journal of Accounting Research<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Professor Tomy earned her Ph.D. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She holds an M.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a B.Sc. from St. Stephen\u2019s College, University of Delhi.
