The Asia Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy (ACSEP) at the National University of Singapore Business School invites submissions for International Symposium on Social Entrepreneurship (ISSE) 2017. The Symposium will be held on the campus of the National University of Singapore on 21 April 2017. Travel and accommodation assistance may be provided to speakers on a case by case basis.

Social entrepreneurship has emerged as an active field of practice and research in last three decades. ISSE is conceived to provide a platform for academic researchers, social entrepreneurs and various stakeholders to share their knowledge and expertise in the development of social enterprises. ISSE consists of both invited industry talks and academic paper presentations.

ISSE 2017 will focus on impact assessment for social enterprises: Contextualisation or Generalisation?. Submitted academic papers must be unpublished original work. A list of possible topics includes:

  • Examples and case studies of impact assessment metrics, indicators, and frameworks adopted by social enterprises. Sample impact assessment frameworks include B-lab, Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS), social return on investment (SROI), balanced scorecard, modified scorecard, blended value accounting (BVA), social impact assessment (SIA) or others.
  • Comparative study on the commonality and differences of the impact assessment adopted by social enterprises in different countries, sectors, organisational forms, or stages of development.
  • The interlink among the theory of change, impact assessment and future performance in social enterprises.
