In a collaboration between top universities from Singapore and China, the NUS-Tsinghua Digital Economy Conference, sponsored by Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation (NTFCF), was held at Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management in Beijing on 7th and 8th June 2018.
The two-day conference was jointly organized by Asia Accounting Research Centre, NUS Business School and Centre for Internet Development and Governance, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, partnered with NUS Business Analytics Centre and Tsinghua University Centre for Corporate Governance. The conference brought together researchers from both universities with different backgrounds to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and share experiences.
Both universities invited faculty members as well as PhD candidates from different departments to present their research and participants were able to learn more about trends shaping the digital economy in key topic areas including: AI; Digital Talent; e-Commerce and Payment; Online Learning; Live Streaming Audience Behaviours and Digital Consumer Decision Making.

Industry representatives were also invited to share cutting edge knowledge and practices in China’s digital economy. On day one, Mr Watson Yin (Vice President of Baidu Foundation) shared his insights on commercial application of AI in Baidu. While on day two, Mr Wang Yanping (General Manager of Public Policy and Government Affairs, LinkedIn China) and Mr. Eason Wei (Economic Graph Director of Public Affairs, LinkedIn China) led a discussion on LinkedIn Economic Graph and Global Digital Talent.

Representing National University of Singapore, a group of seven faculty members and seven PhD candidates participated in this two-day conference, with three faculty members and three PhD candidates sharing their recent research in digital economy related fields. They found this an excellent opportunity to bounce ideas with the audience and to refine the research findings.
