As part of the Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) annual Masterclass Series, we are pleased to invite you to the masterclass on ‘Integrated Thinking and the Future of Corporate Governance’ on Thursday, 14 March 2019 at 4pm.
We are privileged to have Judge Professor Mervyn King, Chair Emeritus of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and Chairman Emeritus of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) deliver the keynote lecture. We are also pleased to have Ms Turid Solvang, Founder & CEO, FutureBoards to give the introductory presentation. This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by CGIO's director, Professor Lawrence Loh.
Professor King is one of the world’s foremost authorities on corporate governance, reporting and sustainability and the pioneer behind the move to Integrated Reporting (IR). He has spent decades advocating for companies to be accountable for their impact on society and the environment.
Ms Solvang is Founder and CEO of FutureBoards, a body that helps the exchange of experience and ideas for best practice governance and creating physical and digital arenas for networking. She has extensive experience from corporate communications and as non-executive director on various boards of companies.
We have just seen the introduction of Sustainability Reporting (SR) by the Singapore Exchange for publicly listed companies to submit SR reports. SR complements corporate governance reporting in the non-financial reporting segment of an annual report. On a macro and micro level, IR represents an integrated approach for companies to synergise not just the financial and non-financial reporting, but also the running of a business.
With the advent of technological, digital disruptions and the rise of artificial intelligence, companies and many professional bodies are facing more challenges to the traditional way of doing business. IR will provide the critical platform to transit this era of disruptions.
This talk is relevant not only to board of directors and senior management but also to finance and accounting professionals to harness the innovative approach offered by integrated thinking behind IR.
