CFA Singapore- University Investment Research Competition 2007
The CFA Singapore - University Investment Research Competition (UIRC) is held to promote the practice of professional investment research among university students in Singapore. The UIRC will showcase outstanding investment research reports conducted by full time undergraduate students of the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, SIM University and Singapore Management University. Judges consists of experts from the investment profession, major corporations and professors.
Final Round:
The final round of the cometition was held on the 15th December 2007, Saturday at Reuters Auditorium (One Raffles Quay). The winning and the runners-up team from the preliminary round represented NUS in the finals. There were seven teams participating in the final round of the competition from four universities in Singapore.

NUS Preliminary Round Competition:

These two team will be competiting in the finals with 7 other teams from 3 other universities on the December 15, 2007. The final round will commence on the week of 10 December (Monday) and will end with the final presentation on Saturday afternoon 15 December.
During the course of the week, there will be training, briefings, company visits - so the team members of the two winning teams will have to commit to a full time schedule/availability for 6 days.

Preliminary Round:
Eligibility:
Teams comprising NUS undergraduate students (max. 4 members) are eligible
Preference given to those in the Business School Finance Specialization. Students should have read or are currently reading Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance and Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
At least one student should have strong accounting background, understand consolidated statements and best if he or she knows the latest accounting standards

Eligibility: The top two teams which emerge from the Preliminary Round that comprise mainly Business School Finance Specialization students

Training for Preliminary Round:
To kick off the Competition, CFA Singapore will be organizing a 1-hour seminar on Writing Securities Research - Global Best Practices, on 6 September 2007.
Eligible teams which register by 5 September noon will get priority in the 30 complimentary seats for NUS.
