The President's Graduate Fellowship (PGF) is awarded to candidates who show exceptional promise or accomplishment in research. A number of PhD research students are selected each semester by the University for the award.

The PGF is open to full-time candidates of all nationalities. Incoming PhD students and current NUS Research Scholars (with the exception of SMA and NGS students) who have passed the PhD Qualifying Examination (QE) are eligible to be considered for the award.
(i) Have graduated with an undergraduate degree with first class or second-upper (or equivalent);
(ii) At the time of award of the Scholarship, must have been offered admission as a candidate for a full-time higher degree by research at NUS; and
(iii) Students must be eligible for MOE Subsidy*

Award Amount
A monthly stipend throughout the period of award as follows:
Singapore Citizen1 - S$3,500
Singapore Permanent Resident - S$3,200
International Student - S$3,000

i. Tuition fees at the University
ii. A one-off air travel allowance for 1 one-way ticket of up to S$750 on economy class and up to 20 kg
per trip (only for newly registered overseas students’ trip from home country to Singapore to
commence study); and
iii. A one-off settling allowance of S$1,000 (only for overseas students)

1With effect from 1 August 2015, Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions shall be provided at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer's contribution rate set by CPF, on top of the monthly stipend received.
* All airfare claims must be made within 1 month from date of travel. Please attach original receipt(s) with the relevant completed form and submit it to Registrar's Office.

Award Period
The award is tenable for an initial 1 year and, subject to the awardee's satisfactory progress, renewable annually up to a maximum of 4 years. For candidates who were transferred from a NUS Research Scholarship to a PGF, the total period of their tenure on both schemes must not exceed 4 years.

Upon receiving the call for nominations, department shall evaluate and nominate suitable candidates for this scholarship. 

Notification of Award
Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their applications sometime in May (for August intake).

Terms and Conditions
