The Family Business Academic Conference on 2 April 2014 was jointly organised by CGIO and the journal Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR). It serves as a paper development workshop arisen from the CGIR special issue of “Cross-National Perspectives on Ownership and Governance in Family Firms".
A key feature of the conference was the internationally-renowned Professor Ruth V.Aguilera from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who gave a keynote speech. This was followed by a strong line-up of leading academics from institutions in the U.S, E.U, Canada, Australia and Asia presenting their papers. Academic discussants were also specially-invited to give their comments on the papers and provoke discussion.
The conference was a huge success as the academic community was engaged in open dialogues whether formally during the sessions or informally during breaks. It was an eventful platform dedicated to foster a network of academics committed to creating synergies in the realm of family business research.
