If you are a full-time international student holding a Student's Pass (immigration visa) and wish to work part-time during term time, please take note of the following guidelines:-
(i) All full-time international graudate students will be allowed to engage in part-time employment, as long as they meet ICA's stipulation of not exceeding 16 hours per week of employment during term time.
(ii) The previous restriction on new international students seeking part-time employment during the first semester in NUS will now be removed. This is to faciltiate new international students who may be in financial difficulties to opt for the Work Study Scheme.
(iii) All new international students will be advised on the need to balance studies with part-time employment and to observe the cap of 16 hours per week for employment during term time.
(iv) International students on scholarships will need to seek permission from their scholarship sponsors before engaging in part-time employment.
If you are a non-graduating exchange/non-exchange international students, please take note of the following:-
(v) The University will continue with the previous policy of prohibiting non-graduating international students from engaging in part-time employment as non-graduating exchange/non-exchange international students are here for a short duration and should focus on fulfilling the academic requirements. The policy will not be applicable to those who are here on internship or industrial attachment as part of their course requirement. Student under this catergory will be informed of this prohibition prior to the registration as non-graduating students. Students found breaching this guideline will be liable to disciplinary action by the University.
Information on employment pass for students converting to the part-time status
