AIESEC NUS is hosting a weeks worth of social entrepreneurship activities starting from Jan 14-16 and a field trip on Friday, Jan 23rd to visit one or two successful social enterprise companies here in Singapore. Programs include an interactive workshop on 15th at the central library theatrette, a public forum on 16th at the HSS auditorium, and a SE bazaar on both days at the Central Forum. Nov 20 2008: Entrepreneurship with a social lens: who says enterprises are all about profits and losses?
CSEP hosted its inaugural forum on social entrepreneurship at the Hon Sui Sen Auditorium, NUS Business School. Attracting staff and students from BIZ school, USP, Arts and Sciences and Medicine, the popularity of the event also drew students from the junior Colleges and other academic institutions. It was a lively forum with the presenters sharing their views and experiences on the highs and lows of starting and managing a social enterprise. The diverse forum panel included Ms kalal Karkal (Dignity Links), Mr. Lance Ng (Gift & Take), Mr. Yee Tong (School of Thought) and Mr. Wilson Ang (ECO Singapore). The panel speakers also spoke about the passion and commitment needed to develop marginalized communities and capacity building for sustainable urban and environmental development. The forum was moderated by Prof Albert Teo (Dir, CSEP), Mr. Stanley Tan (chairman, NVPC) was guest of honor and closing remarks were made by Mr. Peter Tay (President, BSAA). Click here for pictures.
Sep 15 2008: Forum on Sustainable Development
A public forum on sustainable development presented by NVPC and UBS, and hosted by CSEP was held at the NUS Guild House. The afternoon forum gave the audience a macro view and examples of case studies where the critical areas of social, economic and environmental development could co-exist through effective strategy and measurable, attainable outcomes. The presentations provided insights into the role of philanthropists and explored the potential for collaboration with key stakeholders and how this can yield enduring solutions. The presenters were Mr. Ong Beng Lee (MND), Dr. Robin Ganzert (PEW Trust), Ms Jacquie Hollister (National Geographic Society), Mr. Don Mohanlal (Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation). Guest of Honor was Dr. Maximillian Martin (Global Head, Philanthropy Services UBS AG), moderator for the forum was Mr. Howard Shaw (ED, Singapore Environment Council). Opening remarks were delivered by Prof Bernard Yeung (Dean, Business School) and closing by Mr. Stanley Tan (chairman, NVPC).
