2. Existing research scholars who are Ph.D. candidates must meet minimum performance benchmarks in coursework and research before they are eligible to receive the new stipends.
3. These stipends will be effective from 1 March 2008 for existing research scholars who qualify. Some research scholars who were admitted in Semester 1 of AY2007/08 will receive their revised stipends later if they qualify, but the increases will be backdated to 1 March 2008.
4. There will be no change in the stipends for research scholars who are Masters candidates. Research scholars who are admitted under a common Graduate Programme and who intend to enroll for pre-Qualifying Exam Ph.D. candidature should apply to their respective Faculties for conversion of candidature. Admission to a Ph.D. candidature is based on academic merit.
5. The President's Graduate Fellowship (PGF) will be converted from a top-up to a Fellowship with a full stipend. Existing holders of PGF will receive a combined stipend shown in Table 2, effective from 1 March 2008.
