Students may apply for direct admissions to the NUS BBA+MSc(Mgt) dual-degree program, or may apply after matriculating into NUS.
Students may be admitted to the BBA and MSc(Mgt) programs at the same time, through centralized online application at the NUS Office of Admissions (OAM). Admitted students must then keep above academic threshold, and may be automatically considered for scholarships and may take graduate modules only after:
1. obtaining satisfactory scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
2. passing an interview
To establish admissibility to the program, an NUS undergraduate must have:
1. informed his/her original NUS faculty/school
2. completed at least 80 modular credits (MCs) for his/her undergraduate program with his/her original faculty/school; at least 40 of those completed MCs must be from modules offered by his/her undergraduate department(s)/faculty for students in his/her undergraduate major(s)
3. enrolled in the University Scholars Programme (USP); or completed at least 4 Minor in Management program modules with an average grade point for those completed modules of at least 4.0 out of 5.0
4. an overall Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 4.0 out of 5.0 for all completed modules
5. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores for the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA), Verbal and Quantitative sections sent directly from GMAT to NUS (code for NUS: DRT-MK-19, MSc in Management)
6. performed well in an interview
For some undergraduate programs, some modules in item (3) for admissibility are sometimes a part of those in item (2).
Item (3) allows USP students to apply for the MSc(Mgt) program before completing any module in the Minor in Management program. However, the average grade point for any Minor in Management modules completed by a USP student before applying for the MSc(Mgt) must also be at least 4.0.
Some modules in the Minor in Management program can be taken by students outside the program, so it is possible to satisfy item (3) without being in the Minor in Management program. However, students in the Minor in Management program may have priority for taking some modules in the program.
Undergraduates in the School of Business are exempt from item (3) for admissibility.
Modules for item (4) include any modules for item (3).
GMAT scores in item (5) cannot be substituted by Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) or any other test scores.
Good applicants who had been active in the NUS community will automatically be considered for scholarships.
Applications from NUS students are welcome anytime, and students are admitted year-round. There are no application fees or admission quota. A-Level or polytechnic results need not be submitted.
A free download, after supplying your email address to the official mba.com, is available for GMAT practice. Students are advised to prepare well, especially for the writing (AWA) section, before registering online for the GMAT. In Singapore, the computerised GMAT can be taken at Pearson Professional Centers-Singapore International Plaza Level 30, Unit 3, 10 Anson Road Singapore 79903 SINGAPORE (+65 6225 2027). The fee for the GMAT is US$250 in 2007, and is payable by a credit card.
Seat availability for taking the GMAT can be checked online; tests are generally available in the morning at 9 am from Monday to Friday and the second Saturday of every month. Test takers are generally required to report half an hour earlier. The GMAT takes less than 4 hours, and can only be taken once every calendar month, for up to 5 times every 12 calendar months.
After you have registered for the earliest available GMAT test, it will still take at least 4 weeks before the Business School receives the official scores. During peak periods, however, the earliest available test itself could already be weeks away, so do not plan on squeezing in a test just in time to apply for the MSc(Mgt) before a semester begins.
On the test day, before you take the test, you will be asked to name up to five programs to which you want your GMAT scores sent for free. Please designate "National University of Singapore" (GMAT Code is: DRT-MK-19, MSc in Management) as a scores recipient when applying for the MSc(Mgt).
Immediately after a GMAT test, all except the AWA score are known on the spot. Performance on the AWA section has no effect on the GMAT Total score that is only based on the Verbal and Quantitative scores. An MSc(Mgt) application may be submitted with these preliminary GMAT scores. Although not required, you could also quickly fax (+65 6778 2681) or send in a photocopy of the final GMAT (with AWA) scores you received, a few weeks after taking the test, directly from ETS. However, your application is not complete until the official GMAT (including AWA) scores sent directly from ETS are received at the Biz School.
The complete list of essay topics that will be used for the AWA section is available online. AWA scores of at least 5.0 out of 6.0, and GMAT scores of at least 700 out of 800, are generally expected of all students. GMAT scores’ percentage rankings are available online. Eligible students with completed applications and acceptable GMAT scores will be interviewed.
Detailed documentary proofs (including all computations for average grade points) for items (1) to (4) of admissibility, together with a résumé, must accompany all application forms. The student will be informed when an application is complete.
The earlier a student plans for and enrolls in the MSc(Mgt) program, the more likely that the maximum number of multiple-counted modules can be achieved, and that lower fees may apply.
Applications are welcome at anytime of the year. However, deadline for application to start program in Semester 1 is 31 March and all GMAT scores must reach NUS Business School, latest by 30 April.
The concurrent MSc(Mgt) program welcomes University Scholars Programme (USP) students to apply. USP students need not complete any Business module before applying for the MSc(Mgt), as detailed in item (3) for admissibility. USP modules may count towards the 40 completed MCs in a student’s major, as required by item (2) of admissibility. USP students in the MSc(Mgt) may count some graduate modules in the MSc(Mgt) as part of their USP Advanced Modules requirements, as detailed in the section Modules Selection.
Eligible MSc(Mgt) students may further apply for a second European CEMS Master in International Management. This dual-master program can be completed in about half a year more than for the single NUS MSc(Mgt). Please see fees page for available scholarships for students advancing to Europe.
