Congratulations on successfully completing your programme at the NUS Business School! We believe that your experience and education will stay with you for life.
As you step out of school into your new career, I have no doubt that your experience here will hold you in good stead in whatever career you choose. And I’m certain you will value the lessons you learned at the School – not just what you picked up in classes and text books, but also lessons of responsibility, service, and of giving back to society, and to the people around us.
On this happy occasion, I would like to ask you to think about helping others have the same experience you have had in the NUS Business School. You can commemorate your graduation by making a positive and lasting impact on our students’ lives by participating in the Commencement Class Giving 2008!
The Commencement Class Giving 2008 campaign has two aims:
- raise funds to provide bursaries for financially needy undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- encourage your class to leave a legacy for the School.
All funds raised will only be used to support needy students, and will not be used to fund infrastructure or the School’s operating expenditure.
Though NUS has not traditionally had the practice of Commencement Class Giving, this is a common practice at most universities. The Class of 2007 introduced this practice, which we view as a good effort for a noble cause.
We hope you will agree with us and make a contribution. Any amount, no matter how small, will be appreciated and go directly towards helping students. One suggestion is to make gifts relating to this year: so perhaps $20.08 or $200.8 might be a suitable gift. Of course, larger sums would have greater impact for our students.
Once again, you have my warm congratulations on your graduation. We are very proud of our students, and are confident that you will have outstanding futures!
With best wishes,
Prof Bernard Yeung
