1. What is the Building Excellence Campaign?
It is NUS Business School’s fundraising appeal to seek the support of faculty, staff, alumni and friends for our new building fund that will be used to construct a new building, the Mochtar Riady Building for our School. It is a two year campaign, started in June 2007 and will end in May 2009.

2. Why the need to construct a new building?
Our School is in critical need of a new building. Our existing facilities are not adequate for our current needs, nor do they reflect the quality of educational experience for which NUS Business School is known. As they were constructed more than 25 years ago, its inherent infrastructure deficiencies severely limit our ability to compete with other top business schools. Plus, with the projected growth of our programs in undergraduate, graduate, and executive education, it is now more important than ever that we have adequate space for our students.
A new building, the Mochtar Riady Building will change all of that. It will create the much-needed classrooms and seminar rooms; lounge areas for alumni, students, faculty and staff; and offices for faculty and administrative services. There will be an Executive Wing, which will house executive-styled classrooms, breakout rooms and dining spaces.
Equipped with state-of-the-art learning facilities, the Mochtar Riady Building will enable our School to continue to facilitate an extraordinary educational experience that is expected of a top global business school. And with business schools the world over jockeying for top faculty, students and status in the increasingly competitive world of business education, the awe factor of a new building with modern learning technologies could mean a lot.

3. Why does your giving matter?
A school is only as great as the support it receives from its staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends. Every contribution demonstrates a strong support for our School and your belief in its future. Your participation, not the amount of your contribution, counts most.

4. How is our building fund doing at this point?
We need approximately $45 million for the Mochtar Riady Building. We have received $15 million from the Lippo Group, and $0.3 million from various alumni, faculty, staff and friends. The remaining $29.7 million for the project will come from additional fundraising and the University / Business School funds.

5. How much should I give?
It’s entirely up to you, so give as much as you feel comfortable giving. A gift of any size is a show of support, and your participation is just as important to us as the amount you give.
For those who need an easy plan, we are suggesting a pledge of $10 a month, for two years, that will greatly further our cause.
For those who contribute $1,000 or more, you will be recognized on the Donor Wall in a designated space in the Mochtar Riady Building. So to have your name included on the Donor Wall, you may wish to consider making a pledge of $42 a month, for a period of two years, which will total $1,008.
Whatever the amount you choose to give, your participation means a lot to us.
