We are pleased to report that we are on track with our plans in constructing a stunning new home - the Mochtar Riady Building. The building is named after Dr Mochtar Riady, the founder and Chairman of the Lippo Group for its generous gift of $21 million to the School. Out of the entire gift amount, $15 million will go towards the new building fund, while the remaining $6 million will set up two distinguished professorships at the school.

As the building is estimated to cost $45 million to construct, the other $30 million will come from additional fundraising and the University / Business School reserves. As part of our fundraising efforts, we are launching the Building Excellence Campaign, a campaign to build support from faculty, staff, alumni and friends.

With its progressive and innovative design, the Mochtar Riady Building will not only lend an iconic physical presence on Kent Ridge Campus, it will also give greater prominence to the southern gateway to NUS. Standing eight-storey high, the building will be located on a prominent site overlooking the road intersection between Heng Mui Keng Terrace and Kent Ridge Drive.

When completed in 2009, the 16,000 sqm structure will create the much-needed classrooms and seminar rooms; lounge areas for alumni, students, faculty and staff; and offices for faculty and administrative services. There will be an Executive Center, which will house executive-styled classrooms, breakout rooms and dining spaces. As well, there will be community spaces, a central atrium - and even a café!

The new building will enable our School to continue to facilitate an extraordinary educational experience that is expected of a top global business school. With the new state-of-the-art learning facilities, our School will maintain its high standing in the competitive environment of business education, and create tomorrow's business leaders within its walls.
