Mr WEE Ee Cheong
Deputy Chairman & CEO, United Overseas Bank Ltd (UOB)  

Mr Wee Ee Cheong joined UOB in 1979 and served as Deputy Chairman and President of the Bank from 2000 to 2007. On 27 April 2007, he as assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer. A non-independent and executive director, he is a member of the Board Credit, Strategy and Board Risk Management Committees.

A career banker with more than 35 years’ experience, Mr Wee holds directorships in several UOB subsidiaries including United Overseas Insurance, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) and United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company. He is Chairman of United Overseas Bank (China) and Deputy President Commissioner of PT Bank UOB Indonesia. Active in industry development, Mr Wee is a council member of The Association of Banks in Singapore and The Institute of Banking & Finance. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Singapore-China Foundation, Visa APCEMEA Senior Client Council and an honorary council member of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry. 

In 2013, he was awarded the Public Service Star for his contributions to the financial industry. Mr Wee holds a Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) and a Master of Arts (Applied Economics) from American University, Washington, DC.

 

Frank MA  

Mr Frank MA
Vice President, Tencent

Mr. Frank Ma joined Tencent in 2004 and is currently its Vice President. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Youth League of China’s Entrepreneurs Association, an Executive Vice President of Peking University’s MBA Alumni Association, and is a committee member of many other organisations such the Central Youth Federation in Finance and the Beijing Youth Federation. Mr. Ma worked for Panasonic and Siemens before joining Tencent.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Shenyang University of Technology and his MBA degree from Peking University. He is the author of best-selling books such as “15 Classes for Entrepreneurs at the Peking University” and “The Turing of an Era”.

 

Sopnendu-Mohanty  

Mr Sopnendu MOHANTY
Chief FinTech Officer, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

Mr Sopnendu Mohanty is responsible for creating development strategies and regulatory policies around technology innovation. Prior to joining MAS, Mr Mohanty was with Citibank as their Global Head of the Consumer Lab Network and Programmes.

He has spent 20 years in the APAC region and held various roles in technology, finance, productivity, and business development.  He was Citibank’s APAC regional head of Branch operations along with heading the Consumer Innovation Lab in Singapore. He was Citibank’s Retail Business Development head and also did leadership stints in various functions within operations and technology.  Globally, he played a significant subject matter expert role in driving Citibank’s global smart banking programme, to transform the bank’s physical network into a digital first, smart & innovative, client centric and highly delightful customer engagement centre.

Mr Mohanty has co-authored various patented work in area of retail distribution of financial sector. He was in the list of Fintech’s Most Powerful Dealmakers of 2016 by Institutional Investor.

 

Nathan-Yao  

Mr Nathan YAO
Vice President, JingDong Finance

Mr Nathan Yao is the Vice President of JingDong Finance. He oversees the strategic development department of the company.

He has over 15 years experience in strategic management, investment, merger and acquisition and has previously worked for Mckinsey, IBM, and Hillhouse Capital. After joining JingDong Finance, he has led the strategic development team to advance various online financial service applications, such as ABS, Big data quantitative investment and stock platform.

Mr Yao received his PhD degree from Yale University and served as the President of the Chinese Student & Scholars Association at Yale.

 

Bernard-Yeung  

Professor Bernard YEUNG
Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor, NUS Business School

Professor Bernard Yeung is the President of ABFER as well as Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor in Finance and Strategic Management at National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School. Before joining NUS in June 2008, he was the Abraham Krasnoff Professor in Global Business, Economics, and Management at New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business and Director of the NYU China House. From 1988 to 1999, he taught at the University of Michigan and at the University of Alberta from 1983 to 1988.

Professor Yeung currently sits on the 3rd Advisory Board of the Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Research Advisory Council of the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL), Reserve Bank of India, a member of the Economics and Management School of Wuhan University Advisory Council and on the International Academic Panel (IAP) at Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).

Professor Yeung has served on various committees and international advisory boards. Currently, he is a member of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) in Singapore. He was a member of the Economic Strategies Committee in Singapore (2009) and also a member of the Financial Research Council of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Professor Yeung’s extensive research covers topics in finance, economics, and management. His articles have appeared in top journals in the fields of economics, finance, strategic management, international business, and accounting, as well as in mass media such as The Financial Times, Economist, and The Wall Street Journal.

He has also won several scholarly honours and awards for academic excellence, including the Irwin Outstanding Educator Award (2013) from the Business Policy and Strategy (BPS) division of the Academy of Management; the Excellence in Teaching Award (Executive Education) by Stern School of Business at NYU and Teacher Excellence Award (doctoral programmes) by University of Michigan Business School. He is also an elected Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB).

He was the Dean Director on the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) Board, and a member Asia Advisory Task force (AATF) of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). He also served as the honorary co-chair of the Strategy Department of the Peking University Guanghua School of Management, and Advisory Professor at the East China Normal University.
Professor Yeung received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Western Ontario and his MBA and PhD degrees from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.

Guo-Dagang  

Mr GUO Dagang
Secretary-General, Beijing Internet Lending Association

Mr Guo Dagang founded the Beijing Internet Lending Association in December 2014, and has been serving as its Secretary-General since. He has 20 years of experience in the information technology and communications industry, focusing on the TMT industry's venture capital sector. He was with Digital China from 2002 to 2009, and VST Holdings from 2002 to 2009, assuming key leadership roles such as Product Director and Division General Manager. He has extensive experience in product planning and operation management, as well as strategic management and industry/channel sales management.

Mr Guo attended the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in 2012 and received a master's degree. He worked for investment institutions such as Beyond Fund and Cathay Venture then, focusing on independent angel investors in IT/Communications/Internet sectors.

Mr Guo has been serving as the instructor for Returned Student Pioneer Park at Renmin University of China, providing entrepreneurship guidance. He was also involved in the establishment of the Internet Finance Club (IFC1000).

 

Mr Nathan Yao  

Mr Soul HTITE
Founder and CEO, Dianrong.com

Mr Soul Htite co-founded Lending Club, the world's largest and benchmarking Peer-to-Peer (P2P) company, where he served as the Head of Technology until 2011. He led all the design and development efforts of Lending Club's online platform, ensuring that all online capabilities were both state-of-the-art and fully secure. The P2P platform received the prestigious Technology Pioneer award at the 2011 World Economic Forum. In February 2014, Lending Club successfully shot up in the Wall Street debut, becoming the first P2P listed company. Its valuation reached over USD 8.5 billion.

In 2012, Mr Htite came to China and started to build up Dianrong on basis of advanced technology and his expertise. Headquartered in Shanghai, Dianrong is now a leading Internet finance company that focuses on the online marketplace and banking solution services. It has been featured widely in the local and global media. On 25 March 2016, Dianrong became the only P2P company that was elected as the standing council unit of the National Internet Finance Association of China.

Before Dianrong and Lending Club,Mr Htite spent most of his professional career building enterprise software at Oracle Corporation. His focus was on real-time online services and system design for high availability and fault tolerance.

 

Ms Janet YOUNG

Managing Director, Head Group Channels and Digitalisation
United Overseas Bank Ltd

As part of the senior leadership team under UOB Group CEO, Ms Janet Young leads Delivery Channels and facilitates digitalisation initiatives across the Group. She leads her teams to build customer engagement and connectivity across all channels and customer groups to meet UOB Group’s vision to be a premier regional bank in Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining UOB, Ms Young was International Business Head for subsidiaries of multinational corporations of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Commercial Bank. Her responsibility covered Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. She has over 25 years of banking and corporate experience. Prior to joining Bank of America, she had led Marketing, e-Business, and Commercial Banking for HSBC Singapore. Before that, she was the China Treasury Director (based in Shanghai) and Asia Pacific Finance and Treasury Director for Philips Electronics.

She is a Board Member of IMDA (Info-Communications Media Development Authority of Singapore), InnoVen - Venture Debt JV between Temasek and UOB, FinLab - Innovation Fintech accelerator JV between UOB and SG Innovate, and Accuron Technologies. Mr Alvin Shen

Mr Alvin Shen is a senior and reputable banker with 20 years’ experience in Fintech, trade & supply chain finance, working capital management, corporate & FI banking with global leading banks and firms. In his banking career spanning decades, he has played a vital role driving product and business development in various Asia markets with remarkable achievements. 

Mr Shen started his own business since 2011 and is now the CEO of Broader Way Investment International Holding Limited, a boutique investment bank and financial advisory firm focusing on Corporate Finance & Investment, Trade & Supply Chain, Corporate Treasury, Fintech and Internet Finance, with operations in China, HK and Singapore.
