Business Law Group

This Group comprises five lawyers who share a common educational heritage - that of having pursued their graduate studies at the leading British universities of Cambridge, London and Bristol. Two of them are Barristers, called to the English Bar, while all are Advocates and Solicitors, qualified to practice at the Singapore Bar. In addition, one has a PhD in Business Policy.

The teaching commitments of the lawyers extend from teaching Business Law at undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Faculty to programmes beyond, in particular the University Scholars Programme, and the university-wide General Elective and Singapore Studies Modules. In recognition of their teaching excellence, three of the lawyers have won Faculty awards while others have received letters of commendation. In addition, one of our lawyers has won the University Incentive Award for teaching a Singapore Studies Module.

The specialization and research interests of the lawyers are necessarily vast and varied. They span important areas such as intellectual property, corporate law and corporate financing, electronic commerce, commercial contracts, consumer protection, employment and medical law. Many of the lawyers' publications have found their way into international journals alongside those of leading academics of international repute and standing. All of them have also written books or contributed to chapters in books for practitioners and students. In the area of service, the level of commitment is evident. The lawyers have, over the years, contributed significantly to the School, the University and beyond.
